Redeeming the Time: A Woman’s Call to Stewardship

Key Scripture

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” — Ephesians 5:15-16 (NIV)

Devotional

Have you ever reached the end of a busy day and wondered where all your time went?

You spent the day doing things, answering messages, helping others, managing responsibilities, and checking off tasks, yet somehow the things that mattered most were left undone.

The truth is, time is one of God’s most precious gifts. Unlike money, once time is spent, it can never be earned back. Every day we are given twenty-four hours—not to simply survive, but to steward well.

As women, we often feel pulled in many directions. Family needs us. Friends need us. Work demands our attention. Ministry calls our hearts. In the middle of serving everyone else, we can neglect our relationship with God and the purpose He has entrusted to us.

God never intended for us to be merely busy. He calls us to be faithful.

Being a good steward of time isn’t about cramming more into your schedule. It’s about aligning your priorities with God’s priorities. It means learning to say “yes” to what He has called you to and “no” to what distracts you from His best.

Jesus Himself modeled this. Although many people wanted His attention, He never allowed urgency to replace purpose. He regularly withdrew to pray, rested when needed, and remained focused on His Father’s will.

When we begin each day surrendered to God, asking Him to direct our steps, our time becomes more than a schedule—it becomes an act of worship.

Today, ask yourself: Am I spending my time on what is eternal, or am I simply reacting to what feels urgent?

God has given you this season, this day, and this moment for a reason. Steward it wisely.

Reflection Questions

  1. What consumes most of my time right now?
  2. Are my daily priorities reflecting my values and faith?
  3. What distractions are keeping me from spending time with God?
  4. Is there something God is asking me to release so I can focus on what matters most?

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gift of time. Forgive me for the moments I have allowed busyness, distractions, or poor priorities to steal my focus. Help me steward each day wisely and intentionally. Teach me to seek You first before I seek productivity. Give me discernment to know what deserves my attention and courage to let go of what does not. May my schedule reflect my love for You and the purpose You have placed on my life. Help me honor You with every moment You have entrusted to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Time Stewardship Truths

• Busy does not always mean fruitful. • Rest is not laziness when God ordains it. • Every “yes” requires a “no” somewhere else. • Time spent with God is never wasted. • Faithfulness in small moments leads to fruitfulness in greater ones.

Affirmation

I will steward my time with wisdom and purpose. God has entrusted this day to me, and I will honor Him with how I spend it.
